Phaneuf Funeral Homes Wins U-10 Soccer Championship

For the second year in a row, Phaneuf Funeral Homes was crowned the MJSLW U-10 Champions by defeting Korksoft 1-0 on Monday evening. With the game tied 0-0 and two minutes to go, striker Ben Berube made a brillant cross field pass to Joanathan Phaneuf who dribbled the ball from midfield on a breakaway to beat the Korksoft goalie. The defensive unit of Sara Bennett, Samantha Sinotte and Selma Ibrahim shut down the Korksoft offensive strikes. Midfielders, Griffin Phaneuf, Jessica Prive, Tenly Guillemette and Aaron Porter did a great job controling the center field play. Wings, Ryan Phillips, Savannah Hartnett, Ashley Selfridge and Jonathan Boyer contained the Korksoft offensive threats. The Phaneuf goalie, Conor Cashin turned away every Korksoft scoring bid to maintain the shutout. The team was coached by Buddy Phaneuf and Chuck Bennett. |
