Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium Heightens Cremation Education and Awareness
In light of the tragic events that unfolded at the Tri-State Crematory in Georgia, Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium has heightened its responsibility of educating the citizens of New Hampshire about cremation here in the Granite State. In fact, Phaneuf Funeral Home owner Buddy Phaneuf has been interviewed by the Union Leader, WMUR TV, and New Hampshire Public Radio regarding the formality of and the regulations in place for crematory operations.
In each interview Phaneuf explained that although the state does have some regulations concerning the actual cremation of the body, the state does not oversee his (or any other) crematory facility nor has the state mandated any kind of education be completed to own or operate a crematory facility. Despite the state’s leniency, Phaneuf was careful to explain that he has created his own regulations and criteria including a vigorous safety and identification checklist and a policy that only allows licensed funeral directors to be involved in the cremation process.
