Phaneuf helps with welfare cremation assistance

Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium President Buddy Phaneuf recently spoke to the New Hampshire Local Welfare Administrators Association about providing creamtions to those in financial distress.

Oftentimes, when a family cannot afford traditional funeral services and/or cremation, the state welfare system can provide funding for a cremation.

Phaneuf has been assisting families with this practice for many years.  Last week, Phaneuf reached out to Welfare Officers from across the Granite State to educate them more on the procedures and provide this as a state-wide service for those who qualify for welfare assistance at the time of a death.

If you would like more information about this program, contact your local welfare office or Phaneuf at 625-5777.

Phaneuf to offer assistance for ethical wills

Coming this fall, Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium Community Service Event Series will present an informational "how-to" session on Ethical Wills.

What is an Ethical Will? A growing trend that began thousands of years ago as is referenced in both the Hebrew and Christian Bibles, an Ethical Will passes down values, wisdom and personalized messages to family and friends - a message that can live on through generations after you have passed.

'Ethical wills' are not considered legal documents as compared to 'living wills' and your 'last will and testament' which are legal documents.
Today, ethical wills are being written by people at turning points and transitions in their lives and when facing challenging life situations. They are usually shared with family and community while the writer is still alive.

Common themes seen in ethical wills:
  • Important personal values and beliefs
  • Important spiritual values
  • Hopes and blessings for future generations
  • Life's lessons
  • Love
  • Forgiving others and asking for forgiveness
More information can be found at www.ethicalwill.com. Stay tuned for more information about our session in the fall!
